I have the email data being displayed in HTML (read only field) and on clicking a button the email functionality has to be performed. For displaying in html appropriately the message has lot of 'td' and 'tr' with 'br' syntax. Currently using <bean:write name="formname" property="messageContent" filter="false" /> for displaying in html.

The email functionality is working fine. It is a simple message without any attachment. We use a wrapper on top of Spring framework which provides the email support.
However, when I receive the email in my inbox, the message contains all the html tags.

How can I get rid of the html tags when the message is received in my inbox?

Thanks in advance.

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
