i'm using a basic send mail code

i'd like to know how to assure that my mail was indeed sent: is it enough to have no exceptions thrown/caught?

Exceptions will let you know if the mail didn't make it to your SMTP server. You can add EventListeners to get a bit more detail about what is going on if you need it.
