Hey Ranchers,

I am looking for a product/package which can be used for providing image drawing capabilities and above all can be integrated with Java. It should give me capabilities like the MS Paint with free image drawing canvas with some advanced featurs that I can plug-in to a website which uses Java based frameworks and technologies. The product can be a licensed/open source, that not being a concern, but it should be feature-rich and should be Java compatible...

Any comments/suggestions would be really appreciated !!

Thanks a ton !
Kamal

ImageJ is an applet, an application and an image-processing library all in one, written in Java and in the public domain. I use it for lots of things, and have written several plugins for it - I love it.

Hey Ulf,

That's exactly the kind of tool I was looking for..Thanks a ton !! As you mentioned, there are plugins for it, so does any of those provide a capability for including 3-D effects and image manipulation? It would be great if you could share some information on it as well...

Thanks in advance,
Kamal

Have a look at the plugins page; it links to tons of plugins, some of which perform 3D task. Fundamentally, ImageJ is a 2D tool, though, so the amount of 3D work you'll get done easily is likely to be limited.

Thanks Ulf !! It seems I will have to go for a custom implementation as I need lot of 3D content.

It depends on the kind of 3D work you're doing. I created an ImageJ plugin that demonstrates integration with JOGL. So if your work is OpenGL-based then it may be possible.
