How important is a technical test in interview?

I had my first interview with the company, on which I was given a technical test. Also I met the development lead people, and the interview, I think, went fine. But I didn't do well on Javascript and DHTML. How important is the score on this test? Does anybody has a similar interview experience like me? What is my chances?

Olga:
- If you were interviewing for a Java job - I am surprised they would ask you about JavaScript.
- Most of the Java (J2EE) work that I have seen - revolves around the server side.
- Personally, if they were looking for a Java developer, and you did ok on the Java questions - then you should be ok.
- Was this interview in the USA?
- Was this interview for a J2EE position?
