Hi all,

I don't know if this is the right forum for this question but i need to ask this. and if this is not the place for my question please forgive me.thanks.

Here goes my concern:-

i have to create a system where i need to generate UUID from three different nodes of the system and the generated data will be saved at the central server. generation of uid at the nodes is a must.

so i am in need to find out a way to assure that the uid generated from the all three nodes will always be uniques in all the cases. i am using of apache.commons.id project. this also is must to be used in the system.

i need some suggestions about the case
1) is this uid generated will always be unique.
2) if the uid will not always be unique then what should i do to make this uid unique in all my system.

Thanks Kent Larsson,
it was quite a good post i was also thinking of something like this
but with these things in the mind one thing i would like to mention as you said.

If you need something unique in the world, use a good random input source.

so can you suggest some random input source for my use having the concern of the case i am in.

although i am planning to create a uid any way on the three plateforms and hope for the best.
