hi all
I am new to this forum.Can any one guide me how to configure com port for communication with external devices.
Iam doing one project and I want to connect at com port
1. An instrument for RF measurements
2. A Digital RF modem to configure for digital rf carrier and alarm display
I want to give command to above devices so that it will respond accordingly i.e give command to com port and retrieve information from comport

Sun has an API specifically designed to do just this. I would give you the exact link but, the Sun site appears to be down right now. If you go to Sun's Site and search, you'll find what you need.

Well nice u c u ppl taking communication seriously, my friend...u have to do the proper setting of "Java Com Package", i don't know what u r OS is, first do that and then try running some sample provided. if u face n e probelm let me know, i just finished my Vehisle Tracking System Application in Java using GPs Technology.....100% in Java....
