classifying favorite languages geographically

hey guys,
We all know that every geographical location in US usually tends to use a particular language/software as it's favorite....any idea where Java is used the most ???

I have never seen any evidence of this, anecdotal or otherwise. Do you have any evidence you can reference to support this claim.

I guess if you could say that certain industries prefer a specific language, and certain regions have a high concentration of certain industries, by extension you MAY be able to say that certain regions prefer certain languages. However that would be stretching it pretty thin. The within group variance between people in the same region using different types of languages is still probably equal to or greater than the between group differences of programmers from different regions using different languages.
