hi I would like to hear about the role of Recruitment Agencies all around the world please , esp on IT industry. My experience here in Australia, they (recruitment agencies) dont really help much, they are acting more as 'sales' person rather than consultant. Often they dont have (their own) clients. But putting up some ads try to get some candidates then sale it to other companies (who originally put up the ad on paper). To me third party thing doesnt really work ... I am wondering if this is happening in USA? Europe? Singapore? China? Canada? employers, managers, job seeker? consultants? agencies, please give your opinion ? I want to hear...THANK YOU
It varies in the US. A few are very good. They're kinda like The Godfather. They know people and make connections. Many are like telemarketers, they cast a wide net and see who bites. The former add value, the latter should be automated away. --Mark

Hi Any hint to spot the telemarketer, so I can avoid or write the my cover letter differently? Any other comments from Managers? Company Owners? everyone from other countries?

Do you think we would not have had so many of these problems if the Godfather had been elected President in 1948? ( This is a reference to Strom Thurman and people who praise the morally repugnant. ) The Godfather was evil. The good ole boy network of the pimps who know the local talent is a system that works on hear-say evidence. Lots of backstabbing occurs in backrooms and nobody is held accountable. Pimps are inherently self serving and not agents of society's interest.
To my rather extensive experience I had never arranged anything through intermediaries. But how much time they take! What astonishes me most is that people who receive money for their job do never bother to look through even 2-3 lines inside your CV. If they need something they request it (to millions of candidates) by a new form to fill out urgently, for new client (without indicating even where) The problem that they are not interested to help in any way the candidates, they do the jobs for those who pay They request to satisfy the wishes of their client-companies and even do not try hiding attitudes to job-seekers as commodity. I am currently fighting without success to remove any of my data from their's databases. THAY WILL NOT DO ANY WORK/HELP FOR YOU, HAVE NO ILLUSION! DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME, THEY TAKE IT FOR GRANTED.
What kind of corn soldier are you? And don't say "kernel" - that's only for this tiny ad:
