File objects as a path

Hi, all.
I've written an app that finds data in a file and renames the same file based on the data found. It's self contained. I'm trying to make some of the code reusable but am having trouble getting the file objects passed between the classes. It finds the file list but can't find the file once I pass the BufferedReader to the other class. How does a Reader know the path to a file?
Thanks,
--Ian

hi Ian,
can you explain in little details (may be posting your code here?)?
just to point a note,
File object is just a handler that refers to file it is not file itself.
i don't understand how BufferedReader came into picture etc so please try to be more specific.
thanks
maulin

Yeah, sorry. By not being long-winded I become unintelligable.
After messing around some more and revisiting the APIs I got it figured out.
Thanks for the intent to help.
