I am getting sometimes " java.io.StreamCorruptedException: Type code out of range, is -84" while using Object input/outputstreams in my code.
Can anyone give more details about this exception especially regrading type code ?what is the significance of -84 in that exception?
Thnaks in advance.

Sounds like -84 is the value of the byte it found where the type code should be, and this is not a legal value for the type code, so it balked. Probably this means that the stream was not properly encoded in the first place. Or, it's not being read correctly. You may wish to show the code that writes and reads the objects - maybe we can see what the problem is.
