What I am trying to do is read the files inside a file. Like a zip file for example. Except I am reading files from a .img file (Not a picture, a file that could contain all the files on a boot disk.)
for instance boot.img would contain command.com
io.sys etc...
Is this possible?
Thank you,
Bill May

Is this possible?

Sure. Will it be easy? Probably not. Any file is just a string of bytes stuck together. The question is do you, the programmer, understand the significance of how those bytes are patterned and relate to one another. If you can get information on the .img format, then you should be able to pull it off.
