How in depth does the book go into character-set support?

Siu: I think I've answered your question a couple of times in other threads.
Daniel: Chapter 6 is all about Character sets and encoders/decoders. The NIO classes dealing with charsets give you everything you need to create your own and add them to the JVM runtime environment.
