Hi,
Could someone please recommend a good (or even great) book on I/O? I've never worked with I/O before so I am looking for something easy to read, easy to understand and up-to-date ... .too much to ask for? I'm hoping not.
Thanks.

I don't know of any specific book on Java I/O, but have your tried Sun's I/O Tutorial? It's probably one of the best tutorials out there.
Also, Bruce Eckel's "Thinking in Java" has a good chapter on Java I/O, not to mention anything else associated with Java basics.
There's also several books listed in the Beginner's section of the Bunkhouse, that may help you find something.

I have this book and it has everything in it I need. The only thing it doesn not cover is the NIO which was not out when this book was written.
But all the NIO is, is all the basic IO wrapped up in a new API so you don't have to write as much code yourself.

And if you are interested in NIO, Ron Hitchens book "Java NIO" from O'reilly is a good one, plus he was a featured author here. Never hurts to support those that support us!

Thanks for the suggestions guys.
I will check out the NIO book (I'm all for writing less code) and the Java tutorial.
