I am curious if anyone has ever used an adaptor to convert from a RS232 (Serial) port to a USB and gotten it to work.
I have an idea that I want to try.. but the hardware is only available with an RS232 adaptor. However, my laptop does not have one of these ports so I was going to attempt using an adaptor to USB.. does anyone have any thoughts on this?
Any comments on it's likely-hood to work or not would be great, Thanks!

I'm currently using one of Triangles PLC's and the interface to the serial port
server is JAVA. I am using Win Xp and I think as long as the system sees it you could likely use it. My port is comm 2 on a laptop with a USB/serial converter.
Works fine!
