File updation

greetings fellow citizens
i'm developing a java application in which i have to read from the text file and up load the data to the databse.The application has to be designed such that a scheduler would kickstart the process and load the text file to different tables in the database.
it has to be designed such that as soon as files keeps on coming the files are automatically updated to the databse.

how do i write a java progrmme .do i need to write a thread.please help me by giving me some suggestions.

How about starting with the basics? The Java Tutorial has a section on IO (reading and writing files). There's a seperate tutorial for JDBC. All you need to know is how to check for a file. The class java.io.File has a lot of methods for things like checking the file time/date and listing the contents of a directory.
