Absolutely! There is a huge shortage of nurses in the US. Nursing is like progrmming was a few years ago. My wife has been offered all sorts of perks.
May be we should really try reading some American Nurse forums (a NurseRanch? a CareRanch?) to see their side of the coin. Like, nurses whining about stupid government policies, which is going to bring a slump in medical job market, exactly as it is in the IT sector now, driving the wages down etc. Oh yeah, I should mention those American patients who want to be treated by American nurses, because they think they deserve it, because they are paying in American dollars! (I saw one similar argument in the Dell customer support forum the other day) Just kidding, Ashok.
Yeah, 20/20 (or 60 minutes or one of those news shows) had a piece not too long about the nursing shortage in America and how companies are being "forced" to recruit overseas. In part of the program, they showed a hospital in South Africa where American companies are wooing-away nurses there to come work in America, thereby leaving THAT country in a shortage. They said more than 50% of the nurses in that one hospital have already left to find better work in the US.
Squanch that. And squanch this tiny ad:
