There are many threads with 0 replies.

I asked a perfectly legitimate question in that forum. No reply. I wish somebody would answer... please!

It's not the job of the moderators to answer questions... it's their job to keep the peace. It's nobody's job to answer questions -- people just do it out of the goodness of their hearts.

That said, I will go try to give a short answer to your question

Also, there are some forums that just have more action going on. And some that have only a few. Those with a few tend to have more threads with 0 replies. Not that they have more threads, it is just quieter in those forums.

You can improve your chances of getting a good reply by reading (and applying, of course) http://faq.javaranch.com/view?HowToAskQuestionsTheSmartWay

There is no guarantee, though...

It is just that "the goodness of the heart" was not getting directed towards my post. Probably had to do a bit with the fact that I had put a very boring subject line there.

Thanks a ton for your reply in the XML forum.

Did you read the Javaranch FAQ entry that Ilja pointed to?
Especially this one - http://faq.javaranch.com/view?SearchFirst.

I think a key point, Sara, is that if you want to try to draw more attention to your post, anyone should be encouraged to try to help, and it's a favor to you. It's not something that should be limited to moderators, and it's not something that should be expected of them.

"Boring" is not the problem, I think. "More specific" might have helped, perhaps something like "What is XML 'parsing'?"
