inflating UTF-8 ant Latin-1 compressed text

Hi,
I'm trying to inflate UTF-8 ant Latin-1 compressed text:

  
        Inflater decoder = new Inflater();
        decoder.setInput(data, offset, length);
        byte[] buffer = new byte[256];
        StringBuffer sbuffer = new StringBuffer();
        while (!decoder.needsInput()) {
            decoder.inflate(buffer); 
        }

The problem is the size of buffer array. Since I use inflated buffer data to create String instance, I'm not sure how big that buffer should be. Any ideas?
