I am builiding a little webapp and I'm thinking about storing the users information in a folder which is the same name as their eMail address.

Is there any problem with this?

Like a weird email addresses that would throw an exception when trying to create the folder, etc.?

I'm running Linux on the server.

Thanks,

Drew

The '@' has a special meaning on the commandline (bash).
Create a file a@foo and test command-completition after 'ls a@'.

Using tools on funky filenames allways leads to surprise and complicated masking.
I don't know how windows interprets a '@'.

I don't know whether replacing it with a dot would lead to nonunique values, whether these are both valid:
a.man@sun.com
a@man.sun.com

Aren't underlines prohibited in email-adresses? Then you could convert unique:
a.man_sun.com
a_man.sun.com

Or you could make a two step hierachie:
sun.com/a.man
man.sun.com/a
