Hi

What i know about the Externizable interface is it gives you a better way of doing Serilization than using the Serilizable interface but never understood what is the better way

Can someone illustrate teh advantages of Externizable over the Serilizable interface if possible wid a small example

From the doc (http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/api/) it looks as though implementing Externalizable means you're going to write your own conversion from object to stream and back. You might do this if you have a more efficient way to convert to stream and back than the default serialization code. I haven't done any serialization in years, and can't think of a good example. Anyone?

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
