I have a C based server that is processing data and I am in need of integrating a Java library into this server. The C based server communicates with different processes via shared memory that is set up using the shm* functions. What I am trying to figure out , can java read from these shared memory segments without using JNI? The only thing that I have found is Java's ability to read memory-mapped files.

Thank you.

Never tried it, but I would say that it can't be done. Pretty much anything outside the VM is off-limits unless you want to use JNI.
