I am working on an applet for my webpage that needs to read files from my own web location. I keep getting the AccessControlException. I have read the 'Quick Tour of Controlling Applets' at http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/security1.2/tour1/ but I can't get the WriteFile example to work even on my local PC after putting the 'mypolicy' file in C:\Test.
I replied to an earlier posting titled File Permission Error by Jonathan Steel but decide to go ahead and open up a new Topic. I would greatly appreciate any help anyone is willing to give me. Thanks, Bud

Hey Bud:
No worries about the "bartender" thing in the other thread.
I tried the tutorial and it worked for me. Try writing the following to a file:

Let's say joe.policy. In the same directory you wrote the joe.policy file, issue the following command (all on one line, of course):

Did that work?

Hello Joe,

That worked swell! I still have a bit of learning to do to get my webpage working the way I want but this gets me off dead center. I can see that I am going to like this Forum a lot.

Thanks much,

Bud
