Hello all,
As suggested by the subject, I need to get a 64 bit number from a USB connection. The USB connection goes to a serial number chip which holds a unique number which I will then store in a MySQL database. Problem is, I don't have a clue where to begin. I searched this forum, and found some references to a comm package, but nothing specific really. I would really appreciate a few pointers for how to do this.

There's an article on IBM's Developer Site which discusses your options.

Well, that was interesting, but unfortunatly the program must run on Windows. If I read the document correctly, the package is currently unix/linux only, or did I miss something?

Follow the links at the end of the article. The
jUSB Home Page links to a windows port and the JSR080 Home Page mentions a pre-alpha windows implementation.
