Hi,

I have a file called input.dsp. I don't know what it is actually. As part of my project, I was given this file and need to read this file from the hard disk.

Could anybody tell me whether java.io is possible to do so. If not, what else can i try?

Well, if you want to read a file, you can use java.io to read any file you want. How you display/process the file depends on what the format of the file is, how data is structured within the file, and what data you want from the file. Since, you don't know what the format of the file is, reading the file won't do you any good

BTW, are you sure you have been asked to open the file through a Java program? .dsp is the extension for Visual C++ projects. Chances are that a .dsp file is accompanied by a bunch of .cpp and .h files. Maybe your project contains some native code, and this .dsp file contains the Visual C++ project that was used to implement the native code.

Lin, please keep your follow-up questions in the same topic. It makes it difficult to follow a conversation and people end up suggesting the same solutions proposed in previous topics. I'm going to lock this topic. Post follow-ups here
