I currently have a day job and a consulting job. Both demand a lot of time and i don't think i can keep this pace anymore. The consulting job pays very well but the risks are obvious. I'm thinking of letting go of my day job.
Has anyone crossed this path before?

Your skills are top notch.
You have access to affordable health insurance.
You have degrees from pretigious U.
You are tall and good looking.
You have cash to get by if the economy should get worse.
If in this market you are finding plenty of consulting opportunities, go for it. Your not giving up a fat pension, valuable stock options or the key to the executive washroom are you?

Thanks for the advice.
I'd like to think of myself as tall and handsome - and hope others would agree.

Can you get some contract in writing with a fixed committment for the contract job?
Try working out the EVs of both jobs, and then consider worst case senarios.
Sorry I don't have much better advice to offer.
