I found it interesting to discover the North Carolina Dept of Labor employment statistics broken out by job discription. Under the heading of 'Computer System Design' I discovered that 25% of the jobs have been lost in the last two years, going down from over 13000 to just over 9000. No freakin' wonder I can't find a job. The unemployment in the area (raleigh/durham) is only around 4.5% but the IT area has not just been hit hard but crushed. I really had no idea the attrition had been this bad in my part of the US.
