I have the following getParameter used in a text box:
<form action="">
<%
String strVal ="";
if (request.getParameter("birthDateMonth") != null)
strVal = request.getParameter("birthDateMonth");
%>
<input type="text" name="birthDateMonth" value"<%= birthDateMonth %>">
</form>
and I get the following error:
entity named "birthDateMonth" was found in this environment
I am not sure what I am missing

Hi Mary,
same as Ernie said in the other thread.
Me, and probably lots of other people, think that your style of working with jsp, might go in the wrong direction.

It might work with javascript, but not with java. I started with servlets, jsp 1 year ago, but then came very fast to the conclusion, that I have to learn the basics of Java first.
If you really want to learn Java: Try this one:

I have no interest in helping people to assemble inmaintainable code. If you think I am an arogant asshole. Well. If you have started to learn the basics, you'll see I am not.

That's the best part. What else can motivate you more to learn things the right way.
Take a deep breath, tell your Super that you need a little time, during work, to develop your skills and get started.
Remember, we are all here to take you through all the steps that are needed - be it helping you with examples or snubbing you and making you realize that you need to do it the right way...........all for your good.
Don't you agree?
