Hi There,
I am having 4 years 7 months of experience in J2EE (working at a Hyderabad, India) and am earning 2.16 lakhs per annum (in Rupees). I am looking for a change in job. I heard that most of the companies are paying between 2-4 lakhs per annum (in Rupees). I wish anybody out there to please guide me to be specific about the correct amount I should say I am expecting from the company. Because the expected salary also takes a major part in my selection into any company. I am into all the latest technologies related to analysis and design of applications using J2EE.
Thx,
Gita

Now a days copanies focus on product+business knowledge than programming skills.
Weblogic/webshpere with EJB+Oracle-->Infosys/Wipro/Satyam = Rs 35 to 40000 p/m
JSP+Servlets+Oracle--->anywhere 25 to 30000 p/m.
swing+core java---> anywhere 20 to 25000 p/m.
again these are vauge figures!!! As employers don't follow some pattern,mainly depends on what type of offshore project and how lucrative the client is.

The other day, one girl from banglore said that with almost 4 years of exp, her salary is 14000 USD, which is roughly 7.0 L/p.a.
I personally think with 4+ years of exp, anything below 40K/per month is not acceptable. IBM pays 2.4L/p.a for a fresher. But it depends on lot of factors, esp the company policy and your last drawn salary. Search on mark's posts for salary negotiations.
In south india, you can try CTS, IBM, Pramati, Satyam, there are so many big players there. Big companies should pay you around 5.0 L/p.a.
