Hi all,
Please I will appreciate if anyone can help me out with a JSP issue. The issue is "When I try to submit a page with some request data to another JSP, its taking more time to process that data with database and to generate JSP in HTML format. I need to display something like "Processing.... Please wait..." in some HTML or JSP page then later when the HTML data gets ready it should display the whole data in a JSP"
The process I need looks like:
HTML form -> Submit -> database process (at same time, display front end like Please wait...) -> get data -> display in JSP
Thanks in advance

use thread to write "Processing" message while JSP is doin the operation...
u 'll have to use DHTML. e.g. write dynamically in to <td> tag of the table...or something like that or u can think of otherway out.
important thing here is that u'll have to notify the printing thread when the operation is done and it should stop saying "processing" message...
i hope u got the idea...
i guess u can invoke threads properly in JSP and make them work the way u want...(i 've never done it but i dont see any prob in doing that)
regards
maulin.

"chandubcs"
Thanks for participating here at the Ranch. However, the name you are using does not comply with the naming convention described at http://www.javaranch.com/name.jsp . We require names to have at least two words, separated by a space, and strongly recommend that you use your full real name (not fictitious monikers). Please log in with a new name which meets the requirements.
Thanks.

Quiet simple buddy. Use this code:
function loadPage()
{
if (document.getElementById) {
// DOM3 = IE5, NS6
document.getElementById('hidepage').style.visibility = 'hidden';
} else{
if (document.layers) { // Netscape 4
document.hidepage.visibility = 'hidden';
}else { // IE 4
document.all.hidepage.style.visibility = 'hidden';
};
};
};
and call this function on load of the page
and ensure that you a div tag in html code to display what ever message you need to display while processing.
