This week's giveaway is in the Java/Jakarta EE forum. We're giving away four copies of Java EE 8 High Performance and have Romain Manni-Bucau on-line! See JSP and Servlets(which are the main topics in SCWCD). Can you tell me where to start? Is it necessary to learn J2EE to leasrn JSP and Servlets? Should I go for JSP first or servlets first? Which books are good for beginners? Any resourse list awailable? Thank you Gopi
Gopi As far as what to learn first, go for servlets first. It is also not neccesary to learn all of the J2EE before learning servlets although some of it all ties together JDBC and XML are the two most obvious ones. Resources: for a list of good books check out the J2EE section of the bunkhouse. For some good info on the SCWCD exam check out the SCWCD links page here at the ranch. There are also some good tutorials here hope those help
Gopi, I too am going to be taking the SCJP soon and then want to move on to the SCWCD. One the best ways to learn is to write and test code so you will need a good servlet engine. You can do a search on this forum or the servlet forum for links. Also, you will probably want a good book and I would recommend two books by Marty Hall. His most recent which would be most relevant to the SCWCD can be found at moreservlets.com, but his first book has a lot of good examples for learning also and is available for free in pdf format here.
