Struts vs. JSTL

What's the difference? Should we as a programming community be focusing on one or the other so there are not so many different standards or does it not matter?

Struts and JSTL are not alternatives or competitors; they complement one another. Struts will eventually move to use JSTL (and its expression language) in its tag libraries.
