I want a sample example as how to use "extend" attribute of <%@page %> directive..And also pls explain me the scenario of extending a thread class in the extend attribute for a jsp file.

i wouldnt recommend it for the beginner. What I would consider it for is if you create a class that extends the default parent class for JSPs to add some specialised functionality that you need but this is
a) advanced and
b) becomes obvious when you get stuck with something on your project
An example might be when you have identical code in every one of your jsps (when using model 1, in model 2 its likely that you will be able to move it into your controller or model)
