Make it the first part of my day followed by lots of exercise and studying things which will hopefully be useful once I find ont.

You learn not to take it personally. When they reject you, recognize that it may be because the position was filled before they saw your resume, or maybe they missed your resume, or maybe a clueless HR person read your resume.
Now in fairness, it could also be that you are not the best candidate and/or your resume doesn't reflect your skills as well as it could. It is useful to try to figure out if this is the case and if so, adjust your skills and/or resume appropriately. However, this can be tricky because the first step of this process is to admit a deficiency, so people feeling dejected may not be ready for it.
I got plenty of rejections/non-responses. I just figure it's the company's loss and move on. :-p
