hello all,
I need to develop an application to send email using JSP .For this I need to develop an editor similar to yahoo email editor where we have the option for font change / color change/Bold´┐Ż..One more requirement for this project is to AVOID java script as much possible and USE JSP as much possible.
I tried to view the source code of the yahoo email editor .it was really hard to understand the 2000 line was code. I would really appreciate if any of you could throw some light on how to solve this problem .if you know website/ article / tutorial dealing this. Please
Pass on .it would really help me.
Thanks in advance,
dinesh

Nothing in JSP will help you. JSP is a server-side template language that allows you to format HTML pages to send to the client. Once on the client, you need to use client-side technologies to control the page -- i.e. Javascript.
That said, last time I looked into this, most of the web-based email editors (like hotmail and yahoo) use an IE-only client-side mechanism to implement the WYSIWYG text area used for formatting mail. It makes heavy use of Javascript to control this mode.
Sorry for the bad news, but you'll either need to use the IE-only special mode, write an applet, or use some other active client-side technology to accomplish this. JSP is not the tool to help you with this.

You are not going to be able to implement a WYSIWYG editor (fonts, color, and so on) with pure HTML and Javascript, so no such tutorial can exist.
If you are interested in using the IE-only mechanism that hotmail uses, do a search on Microsoft's MSDN site for 'design mode'. That's where I figured out how to use that mechanism for a web app I used in my last job.
Warning: it's not a simple 'api'. And it's not well documented.

I tired to post some code examples but because of html tags the system did not let me. Changing all < and > did not help.
