I was wondering if Dave or David would care to comment about why there seem to be more and more talks on Ruby or RoR at these and possibly other predominantly java symposiums.

It seems funny that my first introduction to Ruby at a java conference wasn't about JRuby. Ruby and Ruby on Rails appeal to many java developers. For those java developers that do not plan to dump java for R/RoR, what do you think we can learn from Ruby and Ruby on Rails?

I'm also dying to know if Dave (Thomas) is going to be speaking at No Fluff Just Stuff Symposiums this year. I'm especially interested in the Rocky Mountain Symposium here in the Denver area. Your talks were definitely the highlight of the two I attended. I'd love to have David as well, but I'm asking Dave since he's been a regular speaker at NFJS.

First, why are there talks on Ruby at NFJS? Because the attendees go to them. Jay constantly fine tunes the show, cutting talks which don't attract an audience. So, as long as people go to them, and as long as people attend them, the talks will be there.

I personally don't pan on doing any NFJS shows this year--the travel was getting out of hand. Instead, I'm focussing on working with Mike Clark at The Pragmatic Studio, which offers in-depth, three day Rails, Ruby, and Ajax experiences.

Wow! It's disappointing that you won't be on the NFJS tour this year, but I understand.

I'm on the lookout for a pragmatic studio that I can justify. They look fantastic!
