While using a class like HashMap or ArrayList or Math (which belongs to java.util pakage )in my JSP, my code compiles and generates HTML output even if I don't import the pakage java.util.
However in case of simple java class, we need to import it.
Note that the jsp is hosted on weblogic 7.0. Does weblogic 7.0 provides the import of util pakage by default ?
Please clarify.

In the JavaServer Pages 1.2 Specification in chapter JSP.2.10.1 is written:
The default import list is java.lang.*, javax.servlet.*,
javax.servlet.jsp.* and javax.servlet.http.*.

I have a clue.
Every vendor of a JSP container makes it own implementation for the superclass of the compiled servlet. Maybe your vendor insert a import statement for java.util.*.

I am also curious about implementation of JSP container that differ from the specification.
