Hi,
I tried posting a java code snippet in the Bunkhouse Porch forum using the UBB Code tag. But i am getting an error as

Sorry, your post appears to have an illegal HTML tag. Often this is because the post contains a "<" character instead of the equivalent HTML escape sequence "& lt;"

You can fix this by replacing every "<" in your post with "& lt;" (without the internal space). Sometimes the problem is that you're using a specific method name which our system thinks is part of an attempt to insert some evil JavaScript exploit into our pages. Sorry for the inconvenience; this is the best we can do for now. It's all Mapraputa's fault.

The specific error message is: Parenthesis in HTML tag

The code i am trying to post is plain java code. Could someone help me on this.

Regards,
Reghu.

It's hard to tell without seeing the full text, which of course you can't post. Try putting space around each < or > in your for loop conditions. I think that will convince the system you're not making some HTML tag where you aren't really. If that doesn't work, send and e-mail to jim (at) javaranch.com containing the exact text you're trying to post, and I'll take a look at it.

Oops. I found out the mistake, i was trying to use < in the for statemement instead of & lt.

The specific error : Paranthesis in HTML tag was misleading in this case.

< without a surrounding brace in a [ CODE] tag works but gives an error when < is enclosed by a brace.
