looks like you have a carriage return in the middle of it. this means it is split over two lines. make it all fit on one.
if that is not the problem show us the file where the DTD is given.

Thanks Tim .
You are right , this error disappeared when i make it in one line .
but then it's developed to another exception
Internal Servlet Error:
org.apache.jasper.compiler.CompileException: C:\tomcat\webapps\customtag\1.jsp(3,0) Unable to load class null
at org.apache.jasper.compiler.TagBeginGenerator.init(TagBeginGenerator.java:129)
.......
I've searched in Java Ranch Saloon , and i found some who had the same problem , but i didn't found any good answer for that problem .
wish you can help

Dear Tim ,
I found out that this problem may be because of using old version of tomcat
so i installed tomcat4.0.1
and also that error changed to :
org.apache.jasper.JasperException: Unable to compile class for JSPerror: Invalid class file format in C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.1\lib\rt.jar(java/lang/Object.class). The major.minor version '48.0' is too recent for this tool to understand.
C:\Program Files\Apache Tomcat 4.0\work\localhost\customtag\$1$jsp.java:0: Class java.lang.Object not found in class javax.servlet.GenericServlet.
package org.apache.jsp;
^
2 errors
do u have any idea ?
