iam trying to make a jsp page for browsing records entered by the user..
wanted to figure out.. what is best.. one record per page.. or 5-10 records per page..
i was trying to fetch 5 records per page..but it was randomly showing only 1 record.

Are you sre there actually was more than one result for what you are asking? In most cases the "number of results" is treated as a maximum. If there are fewer than the specified number, all are returned.

Iam trying to create a browse page wherein important information of the records entered by the user will be seen. if he wants to see the details of the record, he can check the button and view full details.
how can we display the records and the details of the same..

See http://www.dotjonline.com/taglib/grid.jsp for a custom tag implementation.

technique is called lazy load.
combine JSP --> Business facade --> Service locator --> session bean --> entity bean/Hibernate -->DB
or
