15000 new jobs, a third of which will be in the US. Seeing as IBM is a global company that's not so strange is it?
Quite different from the initial scare report someone posted somewhere that said IBM was scrapping 15000 jobs in the US...

Unfortunately, some of this appears to be PR, as offshoring was mentioned as a factor.
Also, I noted that they were intending to hire a lot of them fresh (and cheap [implied]) out of college.
Which is going to be small consolation to the thousands of experienced people they previously laid off.

I never started using it
Orion, Tomcat, Silverstream, iPlanet, I've dabbled in Resin.
One look at Websphere and I thought better of it (in fact, the IBM technicians who were sent along to sell us Websphere over Silverstream recommended we not buy Websphere at the time, advise we followed ).
