After commenting on the troll like behavior of mert zkaya (Member # 116332) in the following thread https://coderanch.com/t/402175/java/java/Binary-Octal-Hex-Decimal-Number

Along with the response in that thread I recieved a PM from mert zkaya with the following content.

We are Muslim ,we are Turk.
We are not afraid of smo.

I was going to forward this message to a moderator but I don't know how. Here is link to the PM which may have some ID that can be used to look it up I don't know.

At any rate I originally mentioned this because mert has been posting the same questions on Sun but there it is more obvious that he is a troll. From time to time there and recently here he refers to rules of his "game".

I would suggest that some sort appropriate action be taken.

Paul,

Did you see the thread in Moderators Only? It looks like Mark closed mert's account.

He comes by and asks questions that require a little bit of typing, and is only asking them to get someone to reply and post, rather than really wanting to know the answer, because he already knows those answers.

For a while, I was reading his threads here and at Sun's site, and was giving him the benefit of the doubt. Thinking it is very possible that he is new and learning. However, after seeing some good thought provoking questions, which needs some decent Java knowledge, he asks "Can I create an instance of an Abstract Class". Kind of wierd to go back and ask such a simple question when he understands more complex problems.

There are at least three people that have called him a troll, and his response is that he is, but in his own odd way.

Please excuse my ignorance, but what's a troll?

Im assuming the meaning isn't the same as in Tolkiens universe

From the above I can deduct, that he
a) posts the same questions on multiple forums?
b) asks, just for asking ? (why would anyone do that?)

I guess it's a mix of a and b.

EDIT: Found a definition: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_troll

In Internet terminology, a troll is a person who posts rude or offensive messages on the Internet, such as on online discussion forums, to disrupt discussion or to upset its participants.

And another: http://curezone.com/forums/troll.asp

An "Internet troll" or "Forum Troll" is a person who posts outrageous message to bait people to answer. Forum Troll delights in sowing discord on the forums. A troll is someone who inspires flaming rhetoric, someone who is purposely provoking and pulling people into flaming discussion. Flaming discussions usually end with name calling and a flame war.

I think you basically got it.

He was asking questions just to make people post, not because he needed to know the answer.

Sometimes, it is ok to ask thought provoking questions that promote discussions, but his constant posting and some bad manners on his part in the forum and sending bad PMs to people, you can see he isn't doing it for the purposes for sparking cool discussions.
