Hi,

I need to know is there anyway i can extend the existing custom tag implementation and have my own custom tag.

For example: Consider the struts tag for HTML text. i.e. <html:text> This tag would have some attributes which changes the behaviour of the HTML text.

Can I extend this tag and implement my own tag where i use these pre-defined attributes and define my own for the new one.

i.e. <mytags:text myAttribute="">

Can my tag implementation class extend the tag implementation for existing tag, in this case <html:text> and define new features?

Thanks for the time.

Absolutely. Presuming html:text is not final (I haven't checked). Don't they cover custom tags in the Sun Certified Web Component Developer for J2EE exam anymore?

Thanks paul.

Yes they do cover custom tags in SCWCD. But i skipped it since encountered SKIP_SYLLABUS.
So I am expecting help from java techies like you.

Thanks again for the suggestion.

Cheers.
