I am 34.
I regret that I did not enter the trade earlier. Teaching IT is not like teaching English or Maths the kids want to do it. I'm training in one of the toughest schools in London( first to have a police station on site) but the kids are so enthusiastic, even the naugthy ones. It's great seeing a kid that is close to being chucked out of school turning up after school for help on their coursework. You don't get that feeling in software.

I am nice looking, 36 and could pass for a 26 year old. But no thanks, I do not want to keep doing coding/lower-level work for the rest of my life.

Tony,
I've always thought I might go into teaching at somepoint. A few questions.
What's the pay like (if you don't mind me asking ) ?
Do you get a good pension ?
What are the hours and holidays like ?
How long do you have to train for ? I already have a Bsc in Computing...presumbly I can do some kind of conversion course.

Pay ? If you have a bit of experience and are not straight from college, you'll start on about 25k but this goes up rapidly.
Pension is very good + 50K interest free loan for house deposit if in London.
Hours 8.30 - 3 or 4 + marking
8 months training if a graduate. the course is a PGCE in England.
6k grant + 6k loan( which gov pays back for you ) tax free of course
4k golden hello after a year in teaching.

Hi,
I think there is a war out there to see which camps product more destructions/annoyances. At work, I am not much worry because those MIS
people will give me head-up. At home, I am more concern because I am using Google so much and someone told me Google cannot distinguish the cleverness of virus in disguise as spy-bot due to the majority of companies using it to learn the habbit of it potential market/demography.
Hope you can see the pattern from the following link.
