WOW! $80,000 - $110,000 is way less than I expected, given the current state of the living expense in DC ...

Also, a large number of the IT jobs there (especially, the high paying engineer jobs) require a security clearance of secret or higher.

Thanx all for your response.
Is it possible to land a J2EE APPLICATION Architect position (permenent position in a large company) in DC with salary of $125,000 +?
In other words, when the recruiter asks me for the salary requirement for this position, will my $125K offend them?

Depends on what you can offer them - I guess!
Do you have a M.Sc in CS, relevant work expirience ect.
