Hello fellow Java enthusiasts

I am building my first web-app using JSP and Servlets in the recommended manner. I have put together the actual pages, the servlets and some beans all working beautifully. However I have tried to add some custom tags and find that I cannot compile the tag classes. I have tried everything, but to no avail. I presume I have the classpath settings correct. I am using the normal 'javac' compiler. Anyone any ideas?

Welcome to the Ranch Tony.

Your question reminds me of giving a call to the doctor and saying "I have a problem. What's your diagnose?"

Like the doctor, we need some information before making even a cursory diagnosis.

At the minimum you should include the exact text of the error messages, and the sections of code (please enclose in UBB code tags for readability) causing the problems.

Hello Bear

Firstly, may I thank you for your prompt reply which made me look more closely at the error messages from my compiler. It turns out that, amongst other simple mistakes, I was not overridding the getParentTag() method. After correcting this error the others were easy to deal with and, 'Hay-Presto!' Successful compilation was the result. Thank-you again. I will keep in mind your suggestion about supplying appropriate information.

Tony

Glad that you are making progress. You should not have to override the getParentTag() method however...
