I am using Tomcat 4.x
Created a simple JavaBean : BeanEx()
I have placed this simple Java Bean class file under :

\\WEB-APPS\sampleapp\WEB-INF\classes

This bean is not in a specific package.

When I try and acces this bean in the JSP I get errors
of the type :

Is it necessary to define the Bean in a package ?
If so - what is the reason behind that ?

Thanks in advance to all the ranchers .

Check out the jdk documentation - I think that from 1.4 all classes must be packaged.

Yes, to find the some specific information on this topic go to the JDK 1.4 Compatibility Page and do a search for the words "unnamed namespace" within the page.
