Please, i have a some applets i have created that access a database, however the applet takes time to load:

1. is there a way to make it load faster almost as fast as a normal HTML-only page (my applet tag includes a reference to a jar archive and a class file)

2. can combinig the applet with a JSP or servet make it faster. if possible, how can i do this. sample codes will be appreciated.

3. while the applet is loading, it first displays the sunmicrosystems coffe-cup-java logo, can i prevent that logo coming up, before the page is finally displayed.

4. thank you in advance. your help will be greatly appreciated.

sincerely,
ebele

Here is a URL to a good article on combining servlets and applets:

http://milinddev.tripod.com/appletservlet.htm

What you could do is put all the logic to access the database in a servlet, and then have your applet request objects via the servlet's URL. The servlet would then send serialized objects back when data is requested by the applet. Having a smaller portion of the logic in the applet will reduce the download time. It will also reduce security risks, since you're no longer sending database access passwords through the applet into the client.

Good Luck.

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
