I am trying to set up a JSP so that it can display the result of search on a Oracle text(like Blob) column. The Blobs stored could be doc, pdf, xls etc.
The page should show file name along with matching hits and one should be able to click the file name and view whole file etc.

I looked Oracle text documentation but that seems to use Oracle Java lib,
is there any other way? Thanks.

Blob is not text. You can search based on file name and then get the corresponding file to show/download.

Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
