Hi,
Suppose I have an application which needs to generate a unique number to each of the registered users. This number is to be stored along with other details in the database. Instead of going for an algorithm for generation of such number; can we extract the jsession_id and use it for this purpose.

You could.
A timestamp would work as well or..
If you wanted to be real sure, concatenate the sessionId with the timestamp.

Or get a sequence from a DB.

In any case...

"Diwakar k",

There aren't may rules that have been put into place here on the Ranch, but one that we take very seriously regards the use of proper names. Please take a look at the JavaRanch Naming Policy and adjust your display name to match it.

In particular, your display name must be a first and a last name separated by a space character, and must not be obviously fictitious.

Thanks!
