Problem with UBB [CODE] ?

+Pie Number of slices to send: Send
Hello,

I was in the Ant
forum and was asking specific help regarding these two targets that I created in Ant.

I placed the source of these targets in between .

When I clicked on "Add New Topic", there was this long message stating that I needed to replace every "<" with a "<" so, therefore, I did that and it still had the same message!

So, I copied and pasted this "altered source" into a text editor, and searched for a single "<" and it didn't find any... I also replaced the subsequent ">" with ">"

What am I doing wrong? Should I being placing these with the double quotes (e.g. "<" and ">") or without them (e.g. < and > ?

I can't believe that this the case with the "<" and ">" for the UBB tags... This is so tedious! I've seen people post XML and HTML based code correctly in several topics, how do I do the same?

Many, many thanks!

There were some errors in the previous posting...

The error message stated to replace every < with "& lt;"... So, my question is, inside the UBB CODE brackets, do I use quotes around the "& lt;" and "& gt;" (in order to comply with JavaRanch's rules for using *ltr; & > inside the UBB [CODE] sections?

Thanks again,

Well, the funny thing, is that sometime that error pops up and it isn't about the '<' it is about something else. It is a real pain, and what I usually do, is copy my post into a text editor. Then try to post little portions of the post to the thread, to isolate the offending text.

Unnsse,
For a lot of special characters, I use Eric's tool at the top of the HTML forum.
